How many hours of cover do you need?
Look at when your chat is busiest and when questions sit unanswered. Some projects need cover for their busiest hours. Others need a mod on shift round the clock.
Here is how our plans split it:
- Starter: 2 moderators covering the 12 hours a day you pick, 7 days a week.
- Core 24/7: up to 5 moderators, round the clock.
- Full Community Ops: a community lead plus up to 6 moderators, round the clock.
What should you check before you hire a mod?
Past moderation work you can see for yourself. Ask which servers or groups they’ve moderated, then go back and read how they spoke to members and handled trouble. That’s how we vet every mod we take on.
Then identity. Every mod gives us their real name and a government ID, and signs an NDA, before they start. Someone who can ban your members shouldn’t be a stranger.
How do you test a mod before they start?
Plant a fake scam link and time how fast they catch it. We run this test on every mod.
Then train them on your rules, FAQs and voice before they start. A mod who knows your FAQs answers in chat, so fewer tickets get opened.
What access should a moderator get?
The least the job needs. Day to day, a mod deletes messages and mutes or bans rule-breakers. Agree the exact permissions in writing before you create the role, and keep admin off mod roles.
Keep announcement rights with your core team. Mods shouldn’t post anything official. They pass it to whoever runs announcements. On our plans, those rights stay with your core team and me.
What should a mod never do?
Write these into your mod rules:
- Talk price, predict prices or give financial advice.
- Promise rewards, dates, listings or outcomes.
- Share unconfirmed info or guess numbers.
- Post anything that reads as an official statement.
Our mods work to the same list.
How do you run shifts and reports?
Set a shift schedule so every covered hour has a named mod. Have each mod post “starting shift” and “ending shift” in your mod group, so every handover is visible. A short daily report from each mod keeps you up to date without reading every message. On our plans, I send you a weekly report: highlights, lowlights, suggestions and feedback.
What does it cost to hire mods through DecentralizeHQ?
Starter is from $1,500 a month, Core 24/7 from $3,000 and Full Community Ops from $5,000. Month to month, with no onboarding fee. Your final price depends on your community’s size and platforms.
Our aim: a reply within 5 minutes while we’re on. On Starter, that means the 12 hours you pick.
